This past Monday, January 14th, Lanna Nakone came and organized the heck out of us.
You think I’m kidding, but this was perhaps the most amazingly educational event, that was also fun, that I’ve ever been to. If you’ve ever wondered why you can’t quite master the filing system at your office, or why that new organizer you bought for your bills just doesn’t seem to be working, or how it is that your significant other always knows where their favorite sweater is even though it’s at the bottom of a huge pile of clothes, then you need to read Lanna’s book: Organizing for Your Brain Type. She is the first organizing expert to realize that your personality type and the way you think impact the way you organize (or don’t, as the case may be).
I think my favorite part of the night was when she took us through each of the four different types, and I got to watch the audience members either nod in recognition, shake their heads in disbelief, or point at each other and laugh. It was a sight to see: fifty people (from middle school kids to grandmothers) all hanging on every word spoken about organization.
Lanna has another book for parents that takes the same basic premise, that how we think and who we are impacts the way we interact with our environment, and shows you how to help your children succeed in school and in life: Every Child Has a Thinking Style.
We’ve got signed copies of both, and if you come and get one before closing on Sunday, it’ll be 10% off!
