Last week was a great week for TKE! On Tuesday, March 11th, we had Ursula Coleman reading from her memoir Searchlights — an incredible story, and an incredible woman.
Then on Thursday, March 13th, Kent Haruf and Peter Brown gave an amazing slideshow presentation for their new book West of Last Chance, which combines short pieces by Kent with brilliantly stark photography of the High Plains by Peter. They also signed LOTS of stock, and we now have something I consider a collector’s edition: paperback copies of Eventide with the covers signed by Peter Brown (who took the cover photograph) and the title page signed by Kent Haruf.
And the crowning event was our Corduroy Storytime on Friday, March 14th. The Kids’ Room was packed with Corduory fans, kids and parents alike! Of course, none of our Corduroy books had quite come in yet (one of the perils of the book world, I am sad to say), but we didn’t let that stop us! Congrats to the Hammond kids, who guessed closest for our Guess How Many Buttons contest! Don’t they look happy? And now Corduroy has found three new friends! The books are in now, on a lovely display, so come on by!
